Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan held at Anjuman Arts, Science & Commerce College, Bhatkal

Anjuman Arts, Science & Commerce College, Bhatkal – run under the esteemed parental organization Anjuman Hami-e-Muslimin, Bhatkal – successfully hosted the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (Drug-Free India Campaign) at its College Auditorium on Wednesday. The programme was held in collaboration with the Government of India and the NSS Unit of Karnataka University, Dharwad.
The campaign aimed to raise awareness about the dangers of substance abuse and to encourage students to lead healthy, disciplined, and responsible lives. It emphasized the importance of education, early preventive measures, and community participation in building a drug-free society.

The event was chaired by Prof. Mohammad Yusuf Kola, Principal of the college.

Programme Highlights
NSS Officer Mr. Damodar Naik opened the session with a welcome and introductory address, explaining the goals of the campaign and stressing collective responsibility to create a safe, addiction-free environment.
The keynote address was delivered by Prof. Mohammad Ganim, who defined nasha (intoxication/addiction) and explained how it progressively affects physical health, mental well-being, academic performance, relationships, and career prospects. He urged students to avoid harmful habits and to help peers struggling with substance issues.
Principal Prof. Mohammad Yusuf Kola highlighted how knowledge, discipline, and awareness are powerful tools to prevent addiction and encouraged students to become advocates for a drug-free lifestyle in their families and communities.
Towards the close, Mr. Vinayak Kamath led the gathering in taking a solemn oath to remain drug-free and to inspire others to follow the same path. A heartfelt vote of thanks acknowledged the contribution of teaching and non-teaching staff whose cooperation ensured the event’s success.
As part of the campaign, a specially designed poster carrying the theme “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan – No Drugs” was prominently displayed on campus, reinforcing the anti-drug message among students.
