Bhatkal | August 23, 2025: In a significant move aimed at promoting speedy and amicable resolution of disputes, a Mega Lok Adalat is scheduled to be held on September 13 at the Taluk Court Complex in Bhatkal, under the guidance of the Karnataka State Legal Services Authority and the District Legal Services Authority.
Speaking to the media, Kanta Kurani, Senior Civil Judge and President of the Taluk Legal Services Committee, urged litigants to take advantage of this opportunity to resolve eligible cases through mutual settlement. “The Lok Adalat will address compoundable civil and criminal cases, offering litigants a chance to end long-pending disputes without the burden of extended litigation,” he said.
With the cooperation of the Bar Association, a total of 1,508 cases have already been identified for resolution during the upcoming session. However, officials expect this number to rise as more litigants register their cases in the coming days.
Judge Kurani emphasized that cases will be taken up only with the consent of both parties, ensuring fairness in every settlement. He also noted that any case resolved through Lok Adalat becomes final and binding, with no scope for appeal. Additionally, court fees paid will be refunded, providing further relief to litigants.
“Settling disputes through compromise not only saves time and expenses but also helps maintain harmony between the parties involved, contributing to a healthier societal environment,” he added.
