A new medical facility has been established in Mangalore by the Bhatkali Jamaat ul Muslimeen (BJM), offering much-needed healthcare support to residents of Bhatkal and nearby coastal towns.

The centre, located near Kankanady Bypass in Mangalore, spans around 6,000 square feet and has a capacity of 21 beds. It includes a general ward as well as deluxe AC rooms with attached bathrooms. A restaurant and separate prayer halls for men and women have also been set up for the convenience of patients and their families.

Speaking at a press conference in Bhatkal, BJM Medical Committee Convener S.M. Arshad (Mohtesham) said that a large number of people from Bhatkal, Murdeshwar, Manki, Walki, Shiroor, Byndoor and nearby areas regularly travel to Mangalore for medical treatment but often end up spending far more than necessary due to a lack of proper guidance. The new centre, he said, is aimed at addressing exactly that.

The facility currently has a general physician available for conditions like fever, pneumonia and typhoid. While ICU and surgical services are not available on-site, the centre can accommodate patients discharged from larger hospitals who need continued care and monitoring.

A modern laboratory is also operational at the centre, offering blood tests, ECG and other routine diagnostic services. BJM has also tied up with well-known hospitals in Mangalore to ensure smooth referrals when needed.

Arshad added that the centre has been operational for the past two months and has already been receiving patients. It has recently received official government approval, and a formal inauguration ceremony is expected to be held soon. The project received support from Bhatkal Welfare Society and Jamats in Riyadh and Jeddah.

The public has been encouraged to make use of the facility and to book appointments in advance through the contact numbers provided.
