LPG Cylinder Explosion Damages Home in Karkala, Loss Estimated at Rs 2 Lakh
A gas leak in the kitchen led to a powerful blast that destroyed household items and damaged the structure, though the family escaped unhurt.

A house in Muddan Nagar, Sanur village, was severely damaged after an LPG gas cylinder exploded in the early hours of Thursday, January 16. The incident occurred around 1:30 am at the home of Warija, a local resident.
According to reports, gas began leaking from a cylinder stored in the kitchen, which eventually triggered a powerful explosion. The loud blast sent shockwaves through the neighborhood, alarming both the family and nearby residents.
Fortunately, Warija and his family members were asleep in another room at the time of the explosion and escaped without any injuries.
However, the blast caused significant damage to the property. The force of the explosion created visible cracks in the walls of the house. Several household items were destroyed, including a refrigerator, television, and various pieces of furniture. Early assessments suggest the total loss could be around Rs 2 lakh.
Local officials arrived at the scene shortly after the incident to conduct an inspection and assess the damage.
The incident serves as a reminder about the importance of checking gas connections regularly and ensuring proper ventilation in kitchens to prevent such accidents.
