Lok Sabha Adjourned Till 3 PM Amid Opposition Protests Over West Asia Crisis
Opposition demands a full debate on the Middle East situation as government accuses members of disrupting proceedings.

Proceedings in the Lok Sabha were adjourned until 3 pm on Monday after opposition members staged protests demanding a detailed discussion on the ongoing crisis in West Asia.
The disruption began when S. Jaishankar, India’s External Affairs Minister, stood up to deliver a statement regarding the situation in the region. As he started speaking, several opposition members began raising slogans and demanded a full-fledged debate on the matter.
The session was being chaired by Jagadambika Pal, who urged the protesting members to maintain order. He said the government was already addressing the concerns raised by the opposition and that their questions, displayed on placards, were being answered in detail.
Pal also noted that a resolution seeking the removal of Om Birla from the post of Lok Sabha Speaker was already listed on the agenda for discussion. He questioned how the opposition intended to push for another adjournment motion to discuss the West Asia issue on the same day.
“If members are not satisfied with the statement, they can approach the Business Advisory Committee to request a discussion on the subject,” Pal told the House.
After Jaishankar completed his statement, Kiren Rijiju, the Parliamentary Affairs Minister, criticized the opposition for what he described as a breach of parliamentary ethics. He said the government was ready to discuss the motion regarding the Speaker but accused opposition members of continuing to disrupt the proceedings.
Pal repeatedly appealed to the protesting members to return to their seats and allow the House to function normally. He added that the motion related to the Speaker would be taken up once order was restored.
However, as the protests continued and members refused to relent, the chair adjourned the House until 3 pm.
Earlier in the day, the House had also been adjourned for an hour after members paid tribute to one sitting and four former MPs who had recently passed away.
