‘Land Theft Continues’: Israel Seizes 70,000 Square Meters of West Bank Land
Despite international condemnation, Israel expands control in occupied territories with 53 military seizure orders since January.

Israel has seized another 70,000 square meters of Palestinian land in the occupied West Bank, continuing its illegal expansion despite international law violations.
The Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission reported on Sunday that the Israeli army issued seizure orders for land in several villages around Nablus, claiming military and security needs. The actual purpose is to create a buffer zone around the illegal Eli settlement.
Key Facts:
- 53 military seizure orders issued since January 2025
- Land taken from multiple villages in Nablus governorate
- Objection period expired after only one week
- 710 illegal settlements built since 1967 – one every 8 square kilometers
International Law Violations
The United Nations and international courts consistently declare these settlements illegal. Last July, the International Court of Justice ruled that Israel’s occupation is illegal and demanded evacuation of all West Bank and East Jerusalem settlements.
Meanwhile, violence continues across the West Bank. The Palestinian Red Crescent reported a 37-year-old man was shot in the thigh during Israeli military raids in Ramallah over the weekend.
Human Cost
Since the Gaza war began two years ago, West Bank casualties include:
- 1,051 Palestinians killed
- 10,300 wounded
- 20,000 arrested, including 1,600 children
The ongoing land seizures and settlement expansion threaten any possibility of a two-state solution, which the UN warns is becoming increasingly impossible.
