Accident throws students onto road, injured girl shows determination by attending exam

Beltangady: Two student sisters were injured in a shocking incident on Tuesday morning after the door of a moving Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation bus suddenly opened, throwing them onto the road near Gerukatte on Reshme Road in Beltangady taluk.
The injured students have been identified as Charishma, an SSLC student, and her sister Chasmika, a PUC student. They are daughters of Nagaraj and Roopa from Kalaithottu in Nayyatarpu village. The sisters had boarded the bus from Gerukatte and were on their way to Beltangady for school when the incident occurred.
According to initial reports, the bus was approaching Reshme Road when its door unexpectedly swung open while the vehicle was still moving. The sisters, who were standing close to the entrance, lost their balance and were thrown out onto the road.
Charishma was on her way to her examination centre to appear for her SSLC public exam at the time of the accident. Both sisters sustained injuries and were immediately given first aid before being shifted to hospitals in Beltangady and Ujire for further treatment.
Though early reports raised concerns about the severity of their injuries, later updates suggested that the wounds were not serious. Showing remarkable determination, Charishma went on to attend and write her examination despite the incident.
Authorities have begun an investigation to determine the cause of the accident and to assess any lapses in safety.
