Konkan Railway Recovers ₹12.81 Crore from Ticketless Passengers in Six-Month Drive
Railway authorities conducted over 5,400 special inspections, detecting nearly 1.83 lakh unauthorized travelers between April and September 2025.

The Konkan Railway has collected ₹12.81 crore in fines from passengers traveling without valid tickets during a six-month enforcement campaign aimed at reducing ticketless travel across its network.
Between April and September 2025, railway officials carried out 5,493 special ticket inspection drives along Konkan Railway routes. The checks revealed that 1,82,781 passengers were traveling either without tickets or with improper authorization. These travelers were charged both the ticket fare and penalty amounts, totaling ₹12.81 crore.
The crackdown continued into October, with authorities conducting 920 additional inspections. During this month alone, 42,645 ticketless or unauthorized passengers were caught, resulting in the recovery of ₹2.40 crore in fines and fare collection.
Railway officials have strongly advised all passengers to purchase valid tickets before boarding any Konkan Railway train. This not only helps avoid penalties but also prevents unnecessary inconvenience during the journey.
According to Sunil B Narkar, Public Relations Officer of Konkan Railway, the ticket checking operations will be further strengthened in the coming months. More frequent inspections are planned across all routes under the Konkan Railway network to ensure compliance and maintain proper ticketing standards.
The railway authorities remain committed to ensuring that all passengers follow proper ticketing procedures while traveling on their trains.
