Accident near Madinah claims lives of parents, grandmother and teenage son; three daughters critically injured.

In a heartbreaking incident, four members of a family from Manjeri in Keralaโs Malappuram district were killed in a road accident in Saudi Arabia on Saturday, January 3. The tragedy occurred near Madinah while the family was travelling by car after completing Umrah.
The victims have been identified as Abdul Jaleel (52), his mother Maimunath Kakkengal (73), his wife Thasna Thodengal (40), and their 14-year-old son, Aadhil Jaleel. According to preliminary reports, all four died on the spot due to the impact of the collision.
The family was reportedly travelling from Mecca towards Jeddah when their car collided with a truck on the highway. The exact cause of the accident has not yet been officially confirmed by Saudi authorities.
Three other family membersโAbdul Jaleelโs daughters Ayisha, Hadiya, and Noorahโwere seriously injured in the crash. They are currently undergoing treatment at different hospitals in Saudi Arabia and are said to be in critical condition. Hospital sources have stated that the injured girls are under close medical observation.
Abdul Jaleel had been working in Jeddah for several years. His family had recently arrived in Saudi Arabia on a tourist visa specifically to perform Umrah. The pilgrimage had been completed shortly before the fatal accident took place.
The news has left the familyโs hometown of Manjeri in shock. Relatives, neighbours, and local residents gathered at the family home in Vellila as condolences poured in from across the district and from members of the Kerala diaspora in the Gulf.
Efforts are currently underway to complete legal procedures and arrange for the repatriation of the bodies. Expatriate organisations and community groups in Saudi Arabia are also assisting the family during this difficult time.
