Karnataka’s Raj Bhavan Renamed ‘Lok Bhavan’
The change takes immediate effect following approval from Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot.
Bengaluru: The official residence of the Governor of Karnataka, until now known as Raj Bhavan, will henceforth be called Lok Bhavan, Karnataka. The Governor’s Secretariat announced the change on Wednesday.
According to the notification, the decision follows a recent communication from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs dated November 25, 2025, and has been approved by Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot. With this, the new name comes into force immediately.
The Secretariat has also instructed all state government departments to use “Lok Bhavan, Karnataka” instead of “Raj Bhavan, Karnataka” in all future official correspondence.
