Karnataka to Establish Five Aerospace and Defence Parks Across State
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announces ambitious plan to position Karnataka as global aerospace manufacturing hub with world-class industrial facilities

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has unveiled plans to develop five state-of-the-art aerospace and defence parks across the state, marking a significant push to strengthen the region’s position in India’s aviation and defence manufacturing sector.
The announcement came on Tuesday during the inauguration of Collins Aerospace’s new India Operations Centre at the KIADB Aerospace Park in Devanahalli. The parks will be strategically located in Bengaluru, Belagavi, Mysuru, Tumakuru, and Chamarajanagar.
According to the Chief Minister, these facilities will feature “plug-and-play” infrastructure designed to significantly reduce the time companies need to set up operations. This approach aims to make Karnataka more attractive to both domestic and international aerospace manufacturers.
Major Investment from Collins Aerospace
The newly inaugurated Collins Aerospace facility represents a USD 25 million investment in the state. Spread across 26 acres, the centre is expected to create more than 2,000 skilled jobs in areas including research, development, and advanced manufacturing.
Siddaramaiah emphasized that Collins Aerospace’s decision to establish this comprehensive facility in Bengaluru validates Karnataka’s strong industrial ecosystem. The company, which has over a century of experience in aviation, joins a growing list of major players in the state’s aerospace sector.
Karnataka’s Aerospace Dominance
The Chief Minister highlighted that Karnataka currently contributes nearly 65 percent to India’s total aerospace and defence sector output. More than 2,000 small and medium enterprises across the state are actively engaged in aerospace and defence manufacturing.
Several major companies have already committed substantial investments. Rangsons, partnering with Boeing, is investing Rs 2,915 crore in the state. Mahindra Aerospace has also made significant investments in Karnataka. In total, 48 agreements have been signed in this sector.
Ambitious Five-Year Plan
Looking ahead, the state government has set ambitious targets for the aerospace and defence sector. Karnataka aims to attract Rs 45,000 crore in investments over the next five years while creating approximately 60,000 new jobs.
Siddaramaiah invited global aerospace leaders to consider Karnataka for their manufacturing operations. “Our policies, our people, and our proven track record make us the ideal partner for your success,” he said.
Industry-Friendly Ecosystem
Large and Medium Industries Minister M B Patil, who attended the inauguration, noted that the Collins Aerospace facility is the company’s first in India under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme. The unit will supply components to leading global aviation companies including Boeing and Airbus.
Patil praised the collaboration between KIADB and Karnataka Udyog Mitra in providing the necessary approvals, infrastructure, and support to make the facility operational. He described the investment as a “historic milestone” that demonstrates Karnataka’s commitment to ease of doing business.
The minister added that Karnataka’s new industrial policy places strong emphasis on high-tech sectors such as aerospace, defence, and electronics, positioning the state as a premier destination for advanced manufacturing.
