Over 7 lakh students across the state sit for Class 12 exams under strict monitoring and revised passing criteria

Bengaluru / Bhatkal (Fikrokhabar News) : The II PUC (Class 12) board examinations began across Karnataka on February 28, with authorities putting extensive arrangements in place to ensure smooth and transparent conduct. In Uttara Kannada district, district officials have completed all preparations, including webcasting and CCTV-based monitoring at examination centres.
14,484 Students in Uttara Kannada
The exams, which will continue until March 17, are being held at 35 centres in the district. Officials confirmed that no centre has been classified as “sensitive.”
A total of 14,484 students from Uttara Kannada are appearing for the examination. This includes 3,171 students from the Arts stream, 5,210 from Commerce, and 5,257 from Science. Of the total candidates, 8,545 are girls and 5,939 are boys.
Monitoring will be carried out through CCTV cameras installed at all centres. Live supervision will take place from the District Panchayat office in Karwar, while senior officials at the Department of Pre-University Education headquarters in Bengaluru will oversee the process through webcasting. Authorities said the systems have been tested in advance.
Students are already familiar with such surveillance measures, as similar monitoring was implemented during their earlier SSLC examinations.
Tight Security and Supervision
To maintain discipline and prevent malpractice, 41 monitoring squads have been deployed across the district. This includes one sitting squad for each centre, five district-level squads, and one team led by the DDPI. Each centre is under the charge of a Chief Superintendent.
Question papers and answer booklets are being transported in GPS-enabled vehicles to ensure security and accountability.
The Deputy Commissioner has appealed to students and parents not to pay attention to rumours about question paper leaks circulating on social media platforms such as WhatsApp and Instagram. Officials have warned of strict action against those found spreading false information.
In a departure from previous years, no preparatory holidays were granted before the exams. Colleges remained open, and attendance was compulsory until a day prior to the examinations.
The Transport Department has arranged free travel for students in government buses to help them commute to and from exam centres.
