Karnataka Monsoon Alert: Heavy Rains Forecast for Coastal and Malnad Regions from August 26

Bengaluru, India – Residents in Karnataka, particularly in the Coastal and Malnad districts, should brace for a renewed spell of heavy rainfall starting August 26, 2025. A new forecast released by the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) indicates a significant intensification of the monsoon late next week.
According to the report, which is based on data from SHAR-ISRO, the state will experience two distinct weather phases over the next ten days.
Current and Upcoming Forecast (Until August 25): For the immediate period, from today, August 21, until August 25, the state is expected to see continued light to moderate rainfall. These showers will be scattered to widespread across Coastal Karnataka and the adjoining Malnad districts. Meanwhile, the North Interior Karnataka (NIK) and South Interior Karnataka (SIK) districts are likely to experience only isolated light rains or drizzles.
Monsoon Revival (From August 26): A noticeable shift in the weather pattern is predicted from August 26 onwards. The monsoon is expected to revive and strengthen, bringing widespread moderate to heavy rains, especially to the Coastal and Malnad regions. The forecast maps illustrate a marked increase in precipitation, suggesting a vigorous phase of the monsoon that is expected to continue until August 28 and beyond.
This detailed 10-day forecast, issued at 5:00 PM IST on August 21, advises residents in the coastal and Ghat regions to stay updated on further weather advisories.
