“Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge Calls for Amit Shah’s Resignation, Labels Him ‘Most Incompetent Home Minister’ after Delhi Blast”
Kharge accuses the Centre of intelligence failures after the Red Fort area explosion that killed 13 people and demanded accountability from the Home Minister.

BENGALURU — Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge on Tuesday demanded the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, calling him “the most incompetent Home Minister” in independent India and blaming the Centre for intelligence lapses following the deadly car blast in Delhi.
Speaking to reporters, Kharge questioned the central government’s accountability and asked rhetorically, “How many more people should die?” He referred to a series of recent violent incidents — including those in Delhi, Manipur, Pulwama and Pehalgam — and said the public has not received satisfactory answers.
Kharge criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not removing Shah, despite widespread criticism of the Home Ministry’s handling of security. “He (Shah) is often referred to as the modern Sardar Patel, and repeatedly claims are made about a 56-inch chest. How many more people have to lose their lives before he resigns?” Kharge asked.
He alleged an intelligence failure and said that in other countries a Home Minister would have stepped down under similar circumstances. “There is no accountability,” Kharge said. “He should resign immediately.”
The Congress leader also attacked what he described as the government’s focus on rhetoric over action. “Why is Modi afraid to act against Amit Shah? Is he worried that his Gujarat secrets will come out in the open?” Kharge asked, adding that the ruling camp was “testing the patience of the people.”
Commenting on nationalist organisations, Kharge challenged their silence and urged those who loudly proclaim patriotism to show it in practice: “Where are those RSS — patriots? Send them to the border. They speak big things; what do they have to say in this situation?”
The blast occurred on Monday evening when a slow-moving car exploded at a traffic signal near the Red Fort metro station in Delhi. Officials said the explosion killed 13 people and damaged several nearby vehicles.
Kharge repeated his demand that the central government be held responsible if investigations show failures in intelligence or security arrangements.
