Karnataka Minister G Parameshwara Rejects ‘Next CM’ Slogans by Supporters

Bengaluru: Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara on Thursday distanced himself from slogans raised by his supporters projecting him as the next Chief Minister, stating that he would neither encourage speculation nor lobby for the post.
Supporters in Tumakuru had recently raised slogans hailing Parameshwara as a future Chief Minister, sparking political buzz within the state unit of the Indian National Congress.
Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru, Parameshwara made it clear that he had no role in the slogans and would not add to any confusion.
“I am not prepared to create any more confusion. Our High Command will take a decision at the appropriate time,” he said.
Responding to questions about possible lobbying efforts, the senior Congress leader firmly denied any such move. “I am not going to do any lobbying. Someone asked me whether I was going to Delhi. I did not go to Delhi. That’s it,” he said, indicating that leadership matters would be decided by the party’s central leadership.
He added that while well-wishers may express their personal opinions, he had advised them against raising such slogans. “I have told them not to do it. But I am not going to join or encourage this confusion,” he said.
Focus on Governance
Apart from the political speculation, the Home Minister also addressed administrative issues. He said the government is taking missing children cases seriously and is working to strengthen efforts to trace them.
Parameshwara further stated that authorities have been instructed to identify foreigners overstaying their visas. Ongoing verification drives are being conducted in Bengaluru to detect illegal stays and verify identity documents.
On employment, he said recruitment to vacant government posts would continue in phases. Discussions would also be held on job creation and other key administrative matters, he added.
