Karnataka Government Urges Public to Ignore Auto Gas Shortage Rumours
State says supply is stable despite temporary issues with private distributors

The Karnataka government has appealed to auto drivers, vehicle owners, and the general public not to believe rumours about a shortage of auto LPG across the state.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Disputes Department said reports suggesting long queues at fuel stations are misleading and not reflective of the actual situation.
Officials clarified that while some private suppliers are currently facing supply constraints, state-run oil companies have stepped in to fill the gap. Public sector firms Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited have significantly increased the distribution of auto LPG to ensure uninterrupted availability.
According to the department, these companies earlier supplied about 56.67 metric tonnes of auto gas per day. This has now been increased to 83.58 metric tonnes daily to meet demand.
The government stressed that there is no need for panic and urged people to cooperate instead of reacting to unverified information circulating in some sections of the media.
Meanwhile, Karnataka’s Food and Civil Supplies Minister K H Muniyappa has announced a meeting on April 10 to address and resolve the supply concerns related to auto LPG in the state.
