Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah Questions Timing of Terror Attacks During Elections, BJP Calls Remarks ‘Irresponsible’
The Chief Minister condemned the Red Fort blast but faced criticism from BJP leaders who accused Congress of politicizing national security.

Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday questioned why terror attacks tend to occur during election periods, sparking a political row.
In a social media post, Siddaramaiah strongly condemned the Red Fort blast in Delhi, calling it a tragic incident that claimed innocent lives. “Why do such terror attacks happen around election time?” he asked, urging authorities to ensure that the culprits are brought to justice.
His remarks drew sharp criticism from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Karnataka BJP President B. Y. Vijayendra called the Chief Minister’s comments “highly irresponsible” and said they undermine national unity during a sensitive time.
Vijayendra alleged that the Congress party was attempting to use issues of national security and the sacrifices of soldiers for political gain. “Patriotic citizens always place the nation above politics. Like in Bihar, the people of Karnataka will also give Congress a fitting reply,” he added.
The BJP leader demanded that Siddaramaiah immediately withdraw his statement and refrain from making comments that could “politicize acts of terror.”
