Mysuru: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has firmly stated that he will serve out his full five-year term, dismissing growing speculation within political circles about a potential change in leadership.

Speaking to reporters in Mysuru on Wednesday, Siddaramaiah responded to recent comments from some Congress leaders, including Kanigal MLA H.D. Ranganath, who suggested that Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar should take over as Chief Minister.

“I will remain the Chief Minister for the entire five-year term,” Siddaramaiah said, cutting short the speculation.

He also expressed hope of personally performing the traditional ‘Pushparchana’ (flower offering) ritual during next year’s Shahi Dussehra celebrations in Mysuru — a ceremonial duty carried out by the Chief Minister.

While exuding confidence about continuing in office, Siddaramaiah also acknowledged the authority of the party’s national leadership.

“Whatever decision the high command makes, we have to follow it,” he said, suggesting that while he is committed to his role, any future change would ultimately be in the hands of the Congress leadership.

The remarks come amid growing unease within sections of the state Congress, where a section of leaders have openly voiced support for Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar to be elevated to the top post — a subject that has caused friction in the past as well.

However, Siddaramaiah’s clear and direct response appears aimed at quelling dissent and reasserting control, at least for the time being.
