Karnataka Cabinet Approves Dissolution of Both Jali and Heble Panchayats and Elevates Bhatkal to Municipal Council, Paving the Way for Major Urban Development

Bhatkal 07/08/2025: The state government has taken a significant step by approving the elevation of Bhatkal, a historic and rapidly developing city in Uttara Kannada district, to the status of a Municipal Council (Nagar Sabha). This decision was made during today’s cabinet meeting.
As part of this new administrative arrangement, both the Jali Town Panchayat and the Heble Village Panchayat will be merged into the newly formed Bhatkal Municipal Council. This integration aims to improve governance and streamline administrative processes in the region.
