BHATKAL – In a powerful Jummah sermon at Jamia Masjid Bhatkal, Moulana Abdul Aleem Khateeb Nadvi delivered a profound discourse on the central role of “Amanat,” or trust, in both faith and daily life.

The scholar explained that Amanat is far more than just safeguarding someone’s physical property. It is a comprehensive concept encompassing all responsibilities entrusted to an individual by God and society.

He outlined three key areas of trust:

  1. Rights of God: This includes performing religious duties like Salah, Zakat, and Hajj with sincerity and correctness, as they are divine responsibilities.
  2. Rights of the Self: One’s own health, time, and life are trusts from God. Wasting them or causing self-harm is a breach of that trust.
  3. Rights of Others: This is the social dimension. The scholar stressed that every role in society—be it a parent, spouse, teacher, businessperson, government official, or employee—carries a sacred trust. Failing in these duties, whether in family life, business dealings, or public service, constitutes a betrayal.

Moulana Abdul Aleem connected the prevalence of social ills—such as broken families, fractured relationships, and community discord—directly to the neglect of these trusts. He cited a Hadith of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), stating, “Every one of you is a guardian and is responsible for his subjects.”

The sermon concluded with a call to action, urging the community to self-reflect, understand their individual responsibilities, and strive to fulfill them honestly. He stated that this is the only path to achieving personal peace, harmonious households, and a stable society.
