Jummah Sermon in Bhatkal Emphasizes Repentance as the Path to Divine Mercy and Self-Purification
Moulana Abdul Aleem highlights that sincere repentance, not perfection, is the hallmark of a true believer and the key to spiritual success.

BHATKAL – In a spiritually uplifting Jummah sermon at Jamia Masjid Bhatkal, Moulana Abdul Aleem Khateeb Nadvi delivered a profound discourse on the centrality of repentance (Tawbah) in a believer’s life, describing it as the very essence of faith and a means to attain divine love and mercy.
The scholar began by explaining that error is an inherent part of the human condition, created as a test. He contrasted the responses of Prophet Adam (AS) and Satan (Iblis) to their mistakes; Adam immediately turned to God in sincere remorse and was forgiven, while Satan arrogantly refused and was cast out forever.
“Every son of Adam is a sinner,” the Khateeb stated, quoting a Hadith, “but the best of sinners are those who repent constantly.” He stressed that the act of returning to Allah, acknowledging one’s weakness and seeking forgiveness, is a quality God loves deeply, as mentioned in the Quran.
Moulana Abdul Aleem outlined the three essential conditions for a repentance to be accepted by Allah:
- Immediately ceasing the sinful act.
- Feeling genuine remorse and regret in the heart for the wrongdoing.
- Making a firm resolve never to return to the sin.
Addressing a common struggle, the Khateeb reassured the congregation that one should never despair of Allah’s vast mercy, even if a sin is repeated. He encouraged believers to repent each time they falter, reminding them that Allah’s door of forgiveness remains open until the very last moments of life.
The sermon concluded by highlighting the transformative power of constant repentance. It purifies the heart, strengthens the connection with Allah, instills a fear of the Hereafter, and naturally steers a person away from wrongdoing, thereby fostering a more righteous and peaceful individual and society.
