Israeli naval forces boarded and seized 39 civilian vessels taking part in the “Global Sumud Flotilla” on October 2, 2025, in a large-scale interception operation in international waters. The humanitarian convoy was carrying food, medicine, and essential supplies toward Gaza, which remains under a strict maritime blockade.

According to the latest reports, a total of 497 activists from 46 countries were detained during the operation. They were aboard the aid ships attempting to deliver humanitarian assistance directly to the Gaza coast.

Organizers confirmed that two vessels managed to avoid interception and are still heading toward Gaza. Their current status and location remain unclear.

The flotilla’s mission was to break the long-standing naval blockade and draw international attention to the humanitarian situation in Gaza. The interception of dozens of ships in international waters has drawn sharp criticism from human rights groups, who label the action a violation of international law.

There has been no official statement regarding the current status or location of the hundreds of detained activists. The incident is expected to increase diplomatic tensions and spark calls for their immediate release.
