Israeli authorities are deliberately preventing independent journalists from entering Gaza in an effort to control the narrative and limit global awareness of the situation on the ground, says journalist and human rights advocate Maha Hussaini.

In an interview with Al Jazeera, Hussaini explained that Israel continues to target and block journalists while those inside Gaza face constant threats. Drones often hover over reporters, disrupting their work, and the ongoing trauma of attacks makes documenting the war increasingly difficult.

Despite these dangers, Hussaini stressed that Palestinian journalists feel a responsibility to continue reporting and documenting potential Israeli war crimes.

Her comments come shortly after the killing of journalist Saleh al-Jafarawi in Gaza City, highlighting the severe risks faced by members of the press.
