Islamic Ruling on Offering Qaza Prayer in Congregation
It is mustahab (recommended) to offer a missed prayer (Qaza prayer) in congregation.
According to the Islamic ruling given by scholars, offering a missed prayer in congregation is mustahab. The fatwa is based on the hadith in Sahih Muslim. When the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and the companions missed the Fajr prayer during the return from the Battle of Khaybar because everyone fell asleep, the Prophet woke up first, performed wudhu, told Hazrat Bilal to say the iqamah, and then led the missed Fajr prayer in congregation. After finishing the prayer, the Prophet said that whoever sleeps through a prayer or forgets it should perform it as soon as they remember. Islamic scholars use this narration to explain that praying Qaza in congregation is recommended.
