Tehran: Iranian media are reportedly confirming that Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has been killed, according to a report by Al Jazeera on Sunday.

The network cited Iranian news agencies, including Tasnim News Agency and Fars News Agency, as confirming Khamenei’s death.

According to the report, Iranian media also stated that Khamenei’s daughter, son-in-law and grandson were killed in the same incident. However, no independent confirmation was immediately available.

In a related development, Iran has reportedly declared 40 days of nationwide public mourning following the killing. Citing state media, Fars News Agency said the government announced 40 days of mourning and seven days of public holidays across the country.

There was no immediate official statement carried separately from Iranian authorities beyond the reports carried by state-linked agencies.
