Iran Will No Longer Target Neighbors Unless Attacks Launched From Their Soil, President Says
Masoud Pezeshkian apologizes for recent strikes, announces shift in military policy toward neighboring countries.

Iran has announced a significant shift in its military policy toward neighboring countries, stating it will no longer target them unless an attack on Iran originates from their territory.
President Masoud Pezeshkian said the Iranian interim leadership council approved the new policy yesterday. In remarks carried by Iranian media, he also apologized to neighboring countries for strikes that took place in recent days.
The announcement comes amid heightened regional tensions following joint US-Israel attacks on Iran that killed Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and his family members. Multiple Gulf nations, including Qatar, Bahrain, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia, reported explosions as Iran launched retaliatory missiles.
The policy change appears aimed at de-escalating tensions with Iran’s neighbors while maintaining the right to respond to attacks launched from their territory.
