Iran–Israel Conflict: 37 Flights Cancelled at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport
Airspace restrictions disrupt services to Gulf destinations; airlines extend suspensions.

Bengaluru: Flight services at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) were disrupted on Sunday (March 1, 2026) amid escalating tensions in the West Asia region.
Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), which operates KIA, confirmed that 37 flights were cancelled due to airspace restrictions.
“Due to airspace restriction on March 1, 18 arrivals and 19 departures have been cancelled,” a BIAL spokesperson said.
The affected sectors include Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, Dubai and Doha. Dubai and Abu Dhabi are among the top two international destinations from KIA.
Several airlines have suspended operations to West Asia in view of the ongoing conflict.
Air India Express said it has extended the suspension of its westbound international flights until 23:59 hours on March 1, 2026. The airline added that passengers who booked travel to or from the Gulf region up to February 28, 2026, for journeys scheduled until March 5, 2026, can reschedule without date-change fees or cancel for a full refund.
Airport officials noted that flight operations to Europe remain largely unaffected.
Meanwhile, in Chennai, 18 international flights operating between the city and Gulf countries were cancelled, according to airport sources. The airport issued an advisory asking passengers travelling overseas, particularly via West Asian countries, to check with their respective airlines before departure.
At Tiruchirappalli International Airport, authorities said an Air India Express flight operating on the Dubai–Tiruchirappalli sector on Sunday was cancelled.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation as regional tensions impact international air travel.
