Interview Skills Workshop Equips Anjuman College Students for Career Success
Expert-led session focuses on practical interview techniques and industry expectations

Bhatkal: Final-year students of BA, B.Sc. and B.Com at Anjuman College, Bhatkal, participated in a comprehensive Interview Skills Workshop aimed at preparing them for campus placements and future career opportunities.
The session was organised to help students develop the practical skills needed to confidently face professional interviews. Prof. Mohammed Ganim, Students’ Welfare Officer, hosted and coordinated the programme.
The event began at 10 am with the recitation of the Holy Qur’an by Abdul Badi Siddiqua from B.Com final year. Suraqa Hasan, also from B.Com final year, delivered the welcome address. Umer Ekkeri introduced the resource person and highlighted the growing importance of interview preparation in today’s competitive job market.
The workshop was conducted by Prof. Jaikishen Bhat, who spoke in detail about interview readiness and employer expectations. He emphasised the need for students to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and industry requirements.
A key highlight of the workshop was a Listening Skills Activity, where students participated in an interactive exercise designed to improve their ability to understand questions clearly before responding. During the session, responses were evaluated in real time, helping students recognise common mistakes such as interrupting the interviewer, giving unrelated answers and failing to structure responses properly.
Prof. Bhat also explained the structure of Graduate Trainee Programs in corporate organisations. He outlined various stages such as orientation, departmental rotations and periodic assessments. He stressed the importance of building technical expertise, soft skills and leadership qualities to succeed in the corporate world.
Students were also introduced to a detailed 26-step guide to interview preparation. The guide covered essential aspects including resume writing, researching companies, effective communication, body language, grooming, handling situational questions and post-interview follow-up. The session was conducted in a practical and industry-oriented manner.
At the end of the programme, the Principal presented a memento to Prof. Jaikishen Bhat in appreciation of his valuable guidance.
The workshop concluded at 1 pm with a vote of thanks by Aash Matta. Event documentation was managed by Salim Armaan (videography) and Yusuf Ayaan (photography), both from B.Com final year. The Discipline Committee, comprising Amaan Muallim, Zulfiqar Ali and Imran Faqui, ensured the smooth conduct of the event.
