India’s Defence Exports Hit Record Rs 38,424 Crore in FY26 with 62% Surge
Strong global demand boosts India’s military exports to over 80 countries

India’s defence exports have reached an all time high of Rs 38,424 crore in the financial year 2025 to 2026, marking a sharp rise of more than 62 percent compared to the previous year.
The increase from Rs 23,622 crore in 2024 to 2025 represents a significant jump of Rs 14,802 crore. Officials say this growth highlights rising global confidence in India’s ability to design and manufacture advanced defence equipment.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh described the achievement as a major milestone. He noted that India is steadily transforming from a country heavily dependent on imports to one that is expanding its presence in the global export market.
India now supplies defence equipment to more than 80 countries. These exports include a wide range of products such as guns, drones, fighter aircraft, and submarines, reflecting the country’s growing capabilities across multiple sectors.
Government data shows that defence public sector undertakings contributed 54.84 percent to total exports, while private companies accounted for 45.16 percent. This balance points to a collaborative ecosystem between public and private players in strengthening the industry.
The government also credited sustained policy efforts and partnerships with international firms for helping integrate India into global defence supply chains.
Despite this progress, India continues to be one of the world’s largest military spenders and remains the second biggest arms importer after Ukraine, according to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute.
Over the past few years, India’s defence exports have shown consistent growth, rising from Rs 21,083 crore in 2023 to 2024, to Rs 23,622 crore in 2024 to 2025, before reaching the current record level.
