India Secures 1.75 Lakh Haj Quota for 2026 Following Agreement with Saudi Arabia
Union Minister Kiren Rijiju signs bilateral Haj pact during official visit to Jeddah, ensuring enhanced facilities for Indian pilgrims

India has successfully finalized its Haj quota for 2026, with Saudi Arabia confirming that 175,025 Indian pilgrims will be able to undertake the holy pilgrimage next year.
The bilateral Haj Agreement for 2026 was signed on Sunday during Union Minister of Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju’s three-day official visit to Saudi Arabia, which took place from November 7 to 9.
Minister Rijiju met with Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Hajj and Umrah, in Jeddah, where the two leaders discussed preparations for the upcoming pilgrimage season. The talks centered on improving coordination between both countries and upgrading key services for pilgrims.
Taking to social media platform X, Rijiju described the agreement as “a significant step in deepening India-Saudi Arabia ties.” He emphasized that both nations are committed to providing a safe and comfortable journey for all Haj pilgrims.
During the discussions, special attention was given to improving transport systems, accommodation standards, and healthcare services for Indian pilgrims. The aim is to ensure that the pilgrimage experience is both spiritually fulfilling and hassle-free.
Minister Rijiju was accompanied by senior officials including Aseem R. Mahajan, Additional Secretary (Gulf), and Ram Singh, Joint Secretary (Haj). The delegation also held review meetings with officials from the Indian Embassy in Riyadh and the Consulate General in Jeddah to monitor ongoing preparations.
As part of his visit, Rijiju inspected important Haj and Umrah facilities in Jeddah and Taif, including Terminal 1 and Haramain Station. He praised the efforts of Indian diplomatic staff for their close coordination with Saudi authorities in looking after the welfare of pilgrims.
The Minister also took time to meet with members of the Indian community living in Saudi Arabia during his visit.
With the 2026 quota now confirmed, Indian authorities will continue working closely with their Saudi counterparts to ensure smooth arrangements for the nearly 1.75 lakh pilgrims who will travel for Haj next year.
