Imam’s Wife, Two Young Daughters Found Murdered in Uttar Pradesh Mosque
The gruesome discovery in Baghpat sends shockwaves through the community; police launch investigation as the cleric was away at the time.

In a shocking incident, the wife and two young daughters of a mosque prayer leader (imam) were found murdered inside their home in Baghpat district, Uttar Pradesh, on Saturday.
The victims have been identified as Israna (30), and her daughters, five-year-old Sofia and two-year-old Sumaiya. They were found dead with severe wounds in their residence, which is located within the complex of the main mosque in Gangnauli village.
According to police reports, the family was attacked with a sharp weapon. The body of the imam’s wife was found on the floor, while the two girls were on a cot.
The imam, Mohd Ibrahim, was not home at the time of the incident, as he was away in Deoband for work. He expressed his shock and told media he had no idea who could be responsible. “I have no enmity with anyone,” he said.
The news of the killings led to protests by local residents, prompting a large police deployment to the area.
Senior police officials, including the DIG of Meerut Range, visited the crime scene. Baghpat SP Suraj Rai stated that the initial investigation suggests the attacker had easy access to the family. The bodies have been sent for an autopsy, and several police teams have been formed to solve the case.
