A Holi procession in Belagavi witnessed participants waving Israeli flags and carrying posters of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The procession took place on March 3 as part of celebrations for Holi, the Hindu festival of colours. Videos circulating online showed several participants holding Israeli flags and raising pro-Israel slogans while moving through the streets.

Some individuals were also seen carrying posters featuring images of Modi and Netanyahu during the march.

Observers noted that similar displays have been seen on earlier occasions where some Hindu nationalist groups publicly expressed support for Israel and its leadership.

Critics say such expressions of support are sometimes linked to anti-Muslim sentiment. Since Israel launched its military campaign in Gaza following the 2023 Hamas attack on Israel in October 2023, and amid rising tensions in the Middle East, pro-Israel messaging has occasionally appeared in political or religious gatherings in India.

There was no immediate official comment from local authorities regarding the procession.
