Karnataka is bracing for intense summer conditions as the weather department has issued a heatwave alert across several parts of the state, especially in northern districts where temperatures are expected to soar in the coming days.

In Bengaluru, dry weather is likely to continue, with daytime temperatures ranging between 35°C and 37°C. While mornings and evenings may remain relatively comfortable, afternoons are expected to be significantly hotter.

Northern districts such as Kalaburagi could see temperatures climbing up to 42°C. Authorities have warned that heatwave conditions may disrupt daily life, particularly between 12 noon and 4 pm. People have been advised to avoid stepping out during these hours unless necessary. Special caution has been urged for children, senior citizens, and those with existing health conditions.

In coastal regions like Mangaluru and Udupi, high humidity levels are expected to make the weather feel more uncomfortable, even if temperatures do not rise sharply.

Meanwhile, the Malnad region, including parts of Shivamogga and Chikkamagaluru, may experience cloudy skies with occasional light drizzles. Night temperatures in these areas are expected to stay between 20°C and 22°C.

The meteorological department has advised residents in affected regions to stay hydrated, wear light clothing, and avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.

In response to the extreme heat, the state government has revised office timings in nine districts under the Kalaburagi and Belagavi revenue divisions. These include Kalaburagi, Bidar, Yadgir, Raichur, Koppal, Ballari, Vijayanagara, and Bagalkote. Government offices in these areas will now function from 8 am to 1:30 pm starting April 1.

Officials have been directed to continue public services without disruption during the revised hours. In case of emergencies, staff may be required to work beyond these timings if instructed by district authorities.

With varying weather patterns across the state, authorities stress that precautionary measures are essential, particularly in regions facing severe heat conditions.
