Government Confirms Delhi Blast Was Terror Attack by ‘Anti-National Forces’
The Cabinet, led by PM Modi, calls the Red Fort explosion a ‘heinous act’ and orders a fast-track probe.

New Delhi: The Union government has confirmed that the deadly car explosion outside the Red Fort in Old Delhi was a terror attack carried out by “anti-national forces.” The statement came after the Union Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, marking the first official acknowledgment of the incident as a terror act.
The blast occurred on the evening of November 10, killing at least 13 people and injuring several others. Officials said the explosion was triggered by a suspected improvised explosive device (IED). During the meeting, Cabinet members observed a two-minute silence in memory of the victims.
In an official statement, the government described the attack as “a heinous terror incident” and directed investigating agencies to ensure the culprits, their collaborators, and their sponsors are identified and brought to justice quickly. It said the situation “continues to be monitored at the highest levels.”
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is leading the probe, while Jammu and Kashmir Police have detained over 500 people for questioning in connection with the blast. So far, the government has not blamed any particular group or country for the attack.
Forensic reports confirmed that the DNA samples of Dr. Umar Nabi Bhat, believed to be the driver of the i20 car involved in the explosion, matched those of his mother, according to reports from PTI and ANI.
