The Global Sumud Flotilla, an international convoy aiming to break the Israeli siege on Gaza and deliver humanitarian aid, is expected to arrive in Tunis shortly after noon on Sunday. Journalist Mauricio Morales, currently aboard the flotilla, confirmed that despite an initial setback due to adverse weather conditions forcing the fleet to return, the boats will be docking in Tunis as scheduled.

This stop in Tunis is part of the flotilla’s broader plan to unite vessels from several Mediterranean ports before sailing together toward Gaza in mid-September. The flotilla has garnered global support from activists, medical professionals, artists, and lawmakers who advocate for ending the blockade and allowing aid to reach civilians suffering in Gaza.

The Global Sumud Flotilla organizers have called on the international community, including the United Nations and governments worldwide, to ensure safe passage for the fleet, protect participants from unlawful detention or intimidation, and press for an end to what they describe as Israel’s ongoing illegal siege and genocide of Palestinians.

The convoy’s arrival in Tunis marks a significant step forward in this peaceful humanitarian mission as the fleet prepares to continue its journey to challenge the blockade and bring international attention to the crisis in Gaza.
