The Global Sumud Flotilla reached Tunis, Tunisia, marking its last stop before embarking on the final leg of its journey to Gaza. Journalist Mauricio Morales, who is documenting the mission aboard one of the vessels, reported that spirits were high among the participants as they sailed along the Tunisian coast approaching the capital.

Upon arrival, the flotilla was greeted by Tunisian police and welcomed by local boats passing by, with many cheering “Viva Palestina” and waving Palestinian flags in a show of solidarity. The flotilla has been at sea for nearly a week since departing Barcelona, overcoming weather challenges and logistical adjustments along the way.

In Tunis, the fleet will spend two days restocking essential supplies such as food and water to ensure readiness for the final voyage to Gaza, set for September 10. The flotilla’s mission is to break the Israeli siege on Gaza to deliver humanitarian aid and draw international attention to the ongoing crisis.

This peaceful campaign has garnered widespread international support from activists, lawmakers, and human rights advocates who urge protection for the mission and an end to the blockade that has severely impacted Gaza’s civilian population.
