Mangaluru (Fikrokhabar News): Allowing a minor to drive can lead to serious consequences—not just for the child, but also for the parents. In a recent case from Bajpe, Mangaluru, this warning turned into reality when a local court slapped a fine of ₹27,500 on a vehicle owner for handing over a scooter to a minor.

The incident took place on the evening of August 25, when Bajpe police stopped a scooter during a routine check. To their surprise, the vehicle was being driven by an underage boy, with two passengers riding along—violating both traffic rules and safety norms.

Upon investigation, police found that the scooter was handed over to the minor by his parents, who own the vehicle. A case was promptly registered under relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act, and the matter was taken to court.

On September 3, the court issued its ruling, ordering the parents to pay ₹27,500 as a fine for allowing the minor to ride the scooter.

Authorities have once again urged parents to act responsibly and never allow minors to operate two-wheelers or four-wheelers, regardless of their demands. Driving without a valid license is a punishable offence, and such actions not only break the law but also put lives at risk.
