Germany Sends Military Staff to Support Gaza Ceasefire Monitoring
Three unarmed German personnel join US-led coordination center in Israel to help implement peace plan and monitor truce.

Germany has deployed three military personnel to assist with monitoring the Gaza ceasefire as part of a US-led coordination effort in Israel, the German Defense Ministry announced on Saturday.
The deployment includes two staff officers and a brigadier general who will serve unarmed at the Civil Military Coordination Center (CMCC) in southern Israel. Their mission is to help “stabilise the ceasefire and implement the agreed measures” under the US-backed 20-point peace plan.
US-Led Coordination Center
The CMCC, already operating with approximately 200 American soldiers and led by a US three-star general, is responsible for:
- Monitoring compliance with the Gaza ceasefire
- Coordinating humanitarian aid delivery
- Clearing war debris
- Preparing for the planned multinational peacekeeping force
The German ministry emphasized that the deployment does not require parliamentary approval since the personnel will not be involved in armed operations.
Broader Peace Process
This move follows German Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s earlier commitment to provide political, financial, and technical support for the Gaza ceasefire plan. The deployment comes as world powers continue implementing President Donald Trump’s 20-point peace plan, endorsed during last week’s summit in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt.
The ceasefire agreement has already seen initial implementation, including:
- Hamas releasing 20 Israeli captives
- Israel releasing nearly 2,000 Palestinian prisoners
- Israeli troop withdrawals from populated areas
- Increased humanitarian aid flow into Gaza
Future phases of the plan envision demilitarizing Hamas, establishing temporary technocratic governance, and deploying an International Stabilization Force to secure borders.
The German deployment represents a cautious international commitment to the fragile peace process following two years of conflict that has killed nearly 68,000 Palestinians, according to Gaza health authorities.
