Gas Leak Triggers Deadly Explosion in Iran’s Bandar Abbas Port
One person killed and several injured as authorities deny rumors of a targeted attack.

A gas leak caused an explosion at a building in the southern Iranian port city of Bandar Abbas on Saturday, according to local authorities.
The semi-official Mehr news agency reported that the head of the city’s fire department confirmed the blast was linked to a gas leak. At least one person was killed and 14 others were injured in the incident, local officials told Iranian media.
Following the explosion, rumors circulated on social media claiming that a commander from Iran’s Revolutionary Guard navy had been targeted. However, the semi-official Tasnim news agency strongly denied these claims, calling them “completely false.”
In a separate incident on the same day, four people were killed in another gas explosion in the city of Ahvaz, near Iran’s border with Iraq. The state-run Tehran Times reported the deaths, but no additional details were immediately released.
Authorities have not announced further findings, and investigations into both explosions are ongoing.
