EU Nations Condemn Israeli Airstrike on Qatar, Call for De-escalation and Respect for International Law

France
French President Emmanuel Macron strongly condemned Israel’s airstrike on Doha, calling it “unacceptable regardless of motive.” He urged restraint to prevent the conflict from escalating and reiterated the need for an immediate ceasefire and the release of hostages.

Portugal’s Foreign Ministry strongly criticized the Israeli action, calling for a ceasefire and hostages’ release, and underlining that a two-state solution is vital for lasting peace. Portugal emphasized the attack violated Qatar’s sovereignty.

Belgium

Switzerland

United Kingdom
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer called the airstrike a violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and warned it risked further escalation in the region. He echoed calls from other European leaders for an immediate ceasefire and greater humanitarian aid to Gaza.
