Election Boycott Banner Put Up in Ajjavara Over Delay in Road Work
Residents warn of poll boycott, citing decades-long neglect of road and drinking water facilities

Sullia: Tension is brewing in Ajjavara village of Sullia taluk after residents put up a banner announcing a possible boycott of upcoming elections over the prolonged delay in road development works.
The protest centres on the long-pending asphalting of an approximately 3-kilometre stretch of road connecting Shiraje 2nd Ward cross road in Ajjavara to Beenadka in Belya 4th Ward. Locals allege that despite repeated appeals over the past 40 years, the road has not been asphalted.
Residents say they have submitted several petitions and raised the issue with elected representatives multiple times, but no concrete action has been taken so far. The banner accuses politicians of seeking votes with repeated promises while failing to address basic infrastructure needs.
In addition to the road issue, villagers have also highlighted the lack of proper drinking water facilities in the area. They claim that their demands for essential amenities have been consistently ignored.
The banner warns that if the authorities continue to neglect the concerns of residents in Shiraje and Belya Beenadka, the community will boycott the forthcoming elections as a mark of protest.
Local officials are yet to respond to the protest at the time of reporting.
