Dubai: Authorities have confirmed that Dubai International Airport, the world’s busiest airport for international passenger traffic, sustained minor damage following an “incident” on Saturday, with four staff members reported injured.

In an official statement, Dubai Airports said, “A concourse at Dubai International sustained minor damage in an incident, which was quickly contained.” The statement confirmed that four staff members were injured but did not elaborate on the nature of the incident.

The airport operator added that, due to contingency plans already in place, most terminals had been previously cleared of passengers.

The confirmation comes amid reports of Iranian missile activity in the wider region earlier in the day.

Separately, unverified reports circulated online claiming that Dubai International Airport had been struck by a missile. Several videos purportedly showing the airport were widely shared on social media. The claims surfaced shortly after emergency alerts were issued across the UAE warning residents and visitors of a potential missile threat and advising them to seek shelter.

However, UAE authorities have not confirmed any missile strike on the airport. No further official details regarding the cause of the incident, the extent of the damage, or additional casualties have been released so far.
