The price of domestic cooking gas has been increased by ₹60, while commercial LPG cylinder prices have gone up by ₹114.5, according to the latest revision announced on March 7.

Following the hike, a 14.2-kg non-subsidised LPG cylinder now costs ₹913 in New Delhi, up from the previous price of ₹853. The revised rates were published on the website of Indian Oil Corporation.

Industry officials said the increase comes amid a sharp rise in global energy prices linked to the ongoing conflict in West Asia.

This is the second increase in domestic LPG prices in less than a year. The last hike took place in April last year, when the price was raised by ₹50.

Prices vary across cities due to differences in local taxes and VAT. After the latest revision, a domestic LPG cylinder now costs ₹912.50 in Mumbai, ₹939 in Kolkata, and ₹928.50 in Chennai.

Meanwhile, beneficiaries of the government’s Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana will continue to receive a subsidy of ₹300 per 14.2-kg cylinder for up to 12 refills annually. The scheme, launched in 2016, has provided free LPG connections to more than 10 crore low-income households.

The price of commercial LPG cylinders, which are widely used by hotels, restaurants, and other businesses, has also been increased. A 19-kg commercial cylinder now costs ₹1,883 in New Delhi.

This latest hike follows another increase of ₹28 per commercial cylinder that took effect on March 1. Overall, commercial LPG prices have risen by ₹302.50 so far this year.

Industry sources added that despite the latest increase, LPG prices in India remain relatively lower compared to several neighbouring countries.
