District-Level Dasara Sports Meet in Uttara Kannada on Sept 6
Karwar, Aug 23: The Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports has announced that the district-level Dasara Sports Meet for Uttara Kannada will be held on September 6. The events are set to take place at different venues in Sirsi, with the Shri Marikamba District Stadium being the main hub.
A wide range of competitions have been planned during the one-day meet. Track and field events, along with volleyball, kho-kho, kabaddi, ball badminton, hockey, throwball, handball, basketball, tennis, netball, and swimming will be conducted at the Shri Marikamba stadium.
Football matches will be played at the Sirsi Forestry College grounds, while badminton and table tennis contests are scheduled at the Yellapur Naka Forest Community Hall. Yoga events will take place at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Bhavan on Yellapur Road, and wrestling matches are set for the Haliyal Akhada.
Eligibility and Guidelines
- Participants must have secured first or second place in individual events or first place in team events at the taluk-level competition.
- Only athletes from Uttara Kannada district are allowed to compete.
- All players have to carry valid ID proof such as Aadhaar, ration card, school/college ID, voter ID, or any official government document.
- Competitors must report at their respective venues by 9:00 a.m. on the day of the event.
- Members of uniformed services are not eligible to take part.
- Students and working participants must carry a valid institution or workplace ID, along with a copy of Aadhaar.
The winners of this meet will represent Uttara Kannada district in the upcoming divisional-level sports competitions. Organisers have also warned that participants from outside the district will not be entertained, and strict action may be taken if rules are violated.
