Koppal Amid ongoing speculation about a potential leadership change in Karnataka, Ramanagara MLA H.A. Iqbal Hussain has stated that Deputy Chief Minister D.K. “D.K. Shivakumar will definitely become the Chief Minister. There is no need for any further clarification. The final decision will rest with senior Congress leaders like Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi.”

He clarified that his remarks reflected his personal opinion and wish, and said he stands by them firmly.

The statement comes amid continued political chatter over a possible shift in leadership from incumbent CM Siddaramaiah to D.K. Shivakumar, who is also the Karnataka Congress president and is seen as a key power centre in the state government.

Responding to allegations from the Janata Dal (Secular) that Shivakumar is “tightening the nuts and bolts” in preparation for a power grab, Iqbal Hussain hit back:

“They have no other work. All they do is throw mud and spread lies. When they were in power, they failed to deliver. Now, they’re criticising us for actually doing our job.”

The MLA’s remarks are likely to add fuel to ongoing internal discussions within the Congress over the power-sharing arrangement in Karnataka, where a mid-term leadership change has been a topic of speculation since the party formed the government in 2023.
