Crescent Not Sighted in UAE, Eid Al Fitr Will Be on Friday March 20
The UAE moon-sighting committee did not observe the Shawwal crescent on March 18, so Ramadan will complete 30 days and Eid falls on Friday.

The UAE Fatwa Council’s official crescent committee met on Wednesday evening, March 18, 2026, the 29th of Ramadan. After reviewing all available reports and testimonies, the committee confirmed that the crescent moon was not visible.
As a result, Ramadan will complete its full 30 days. Eid Al Fitr 1447 AH will be celebrated on Friday, March 20, 2026 across the United Arab Emirates.
Thursday, March 19 will be observed as the final day of fasting for Muslims in the UAE.
Holiday arrangements remain the same. Federal government employees will have four days off from Thursday, March 19 to Sunday, March 22. Private sector workers get three days, Thursday through Saturday, with work resuming on Monday, March 23.
Eid prayers will be held at mosques across the country on Friday morning. Preparations are already underway in homes and communities across all seven emirates.
Eid Mubarak to all.
