Bengaluru, Oct 25: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast another week of rainfall across Karnataka, even after the Diwali celebrations, putting several regions especially the coastal belt on alert.

According to the IMD, changes in air pressure over the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea have altered weather patterns, resulting in sustained rainfall across the state. Heavy downpours are likely on October 27, particularly along the coast.

In Bengaluru, cloudy skies and intermittent showers continued through Friday, with light to moderate rainfall recorded in different parts of the city. A yellow alert has been issued for October 25 and 26.

For Coastal Karnataka, authorities have declared a yellow alert on October 26 and an orange alert on October 27, warning of heavy rain. Fishermen have been advised to avoid venturing into the sea due to rough conditions.

The Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) reported that between October 24 and November 2, the Krishna river basin is expected to receive intermittent widespread to moderate rainfall, with isolated heavy showers possible on October 28.

The weather department has suggested that rainfall activity will persist across coastal, northern interior, and southern interior Karnataka over the next seven days. Residents are advised to stay updated with local forecasts and take necessary precautions.
