CM Siddaramaiah’s Official Car Caught in 7 Traffic Violations; Fines Paid with 50% Discount

Bengaluru: The official vehicle of Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has been flagged for seven traffic violations so far in 2024, according to data from the Bengaluru Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS). All fines have since been paid under the state’s 50% discount scheme on traffic penalties.
Out of the seven violations, six were for the Chief Minister not wearing a seat belt while seated in the front of his official Toyota Fortuner. These incidents were caught by traffic cameras at various key junctions across the city.
The first recorded violation took place on January 24 at the Leela Palace junction on Old Airport Road. The same offence was repeated at the same location in February and again in August. Additional seat belt violations were reported at Chandrika Hotel junction in March, and at Sivananda Circle and Dr Rajkumar Road junctions in August.
The seventh violation occurred on July 9, when the vehicle was captured for speeding on the Kempegowda International Airport Express Corridor.
According to the report by Deccan Herald, the total amount of the fines came to ₹2,500 after applying the 50% discount available through the government’s traffic penalty reduction scheme.
This incident has drawn public attention to the importance of adhering to basic traffic safety norms — even for those in high office.
