Clash in Gandhinagar Village Over Social Media Post; 60 Arrested

Gandhinagar: A serious clash broke out between two groups in Bahiyal village, Gandhinagar, on Wednesday night following a dispute over a social media post. The incident resulted in stone-pelting, vandalism, and arson, with several people sustaining injuries.
The conflict reportedly began after a social media post related to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was shared. In reaction, some youths from another community allegedly published counter-posts with offensive remarks. This exchange quickly escalated tensions between the two groups, leading to a violent confrontation during the local Garba celebrations.
Police took immediate action to control the situation, arresting around 60 individuals on charges of rioting, stone-pelting, and arson. Authorities have deployed two companies of the Special Reserve Police Force along with 200 police personnel to maintain peace in the village.
ASP Ayush Jain confirmed the incident and stated that the situation is now completely under control. He urged residents to avoid spreading rumors and to cooperate in maintaining law and order. An investigation is ongoing, and police are continuing to patrol the area.
