Central Railway Issues Safety Warning After Woman’s Viral Kettle Cooking Video
Railway authorities warn passengers against using high-voltage appliances onboard trains following a viral incident that raised serious fire safety concerns.

A video showing a woman cooking Maggi noodles in an electric kettle aboard a moving train has prompted Central Railway to issue an official safety warning to passengers.
The footage, which quickly spread across social media platforms, shows a Maharashtra woman preparing instant noodles using a kettle inside a train compartment. While the act may have seemed harmless to her, railway officials have pointed out the serious risks involved.
Fire Hazard Concerns
Using electric kettles and other high-power devices on trains can lead to dangerous situations, including short circuits and potential fires in enclosed compartments. The incident drew widespread attention on X (formerly Twitter), with many users expressing concern and calling on railway authorities to take action.
Official Response from Central Railway
In response to the viral video and public concerns, Central Railway released a safety advisory featuring an illustrated warning. The notice clearly states: “Don’t use electric kettles on the train! It is unsafe and strictly prohibited.”
The advisory further explains that high-voltage appliances can cause sparks, fire hazards, or electrical tripping inside train coaches. Railway officials urged passengers to avoid such devices to maintain a safe travel environment for everyone.
“Travel Smart, Stay Safe!” the railway authority emphasized in its public message.\
The safety warning has sparked various reactions on social media. Some users suggested implementing airport-style security checks at railway stations to prevent passengers from carrying such appliances.
One commenter wrote: “Posters won’t fix this. Do airport-style checks at station entry, and the problem solves itself.”
Others pointed to the quality of food available on trains as a possible reason why passengers resort to cooking their own meals. “No passenger would do that if you start giving quality, tasty and decent food from the pantry,” another user argued.
Railway authorities continue to remind passengers that safety regulations are in place to protect all travelers, and cooperation is essential for a secure journey.
